Community Engagement

MUWRP is committed to actively engaging communities at various stages of the research process, from trial protocol development, through implementation, to dissemination of research findings. Scientists are encouraged to participate in engagement activities with the public both inside and outside the research community. Sharing our research work is a crucial part of the MUWRP pillars. MUWRP ensures the community members are informed of the research protocols taking place in their communities.

Through its community outreach component, MUWRP has engaged communities in the Kampala suburbs and the Kayunga, Mukono, Buvuma, Buikwe, and Kabarole districts. Pictured below is a grid illustrating stakeholders engaged at different levels.

Engagement strategies utilized include: local and International meetings and dialogue sessions with stakeholders at different levels, utilization of print and broadcast media, engagement in community commemorative events like World AIDS Day, HIV Vaccine Awareness Day, and sharing MUWRP information on the website for public consumption.
